The captain of the Yankees celebrated his 3,000th career hit with barbecue food and none of his teammates.

Derek Jeter had a small party with close to 25 close friends and family, but not a single Yankees teammate, including Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada were on hand Saturday night.

Jeter, with girlfriend Minka Kelly, dined at Southern Hospitality BBQ in the Hell's Kitchen section of Manhattan.

They celebrated in a private room, away from unwashed fans who helped Mr. November earn more than $205,430,000 during his Hall of Fame career.

The private room was decorated with huge silver balloons, some of which spelled out "3,000 Hits"; others were giant Yankee baseballs, reports the NY Post.

Jeter's party ended at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The Yankees played the Rays at 1 p.m. in the Bronx.
