Turns out the 23-year-old die hard baseball fan who caught Derek Jeter's 3,000th career hit does in fact have regrets about the aftermath of his catch of the historic home run ball.
Christian Lopez says he is kicking himself over one part of his conversations with management of the Bronx Bombers.
"Yeah there is one thing I would have done different: I would have asked the Yankees to hire me a publicist," Lopez told 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia.
"That's probably the hardest part, because I've had people calling my house, my cellphone, my work. It would have just been really easy for one person to contact to try and set this all up. I'm trying to do it, my girlfriend is trying to do it, my mom is trying to do it. No one knows what my schedule looks like. People were calling me at 3:30 in the morning trying to talk to me. People were calling me at 11 o'clock on my way home from work, because after the game I went to work."
Lopez, a cellphone salesman, isn't sure if he'll be doing the late night TV circuit with David Letterman or Jay Leno.
"I have no idea, I have like 60 people I have to call back. I don't know who is who. They just wanna talk to me and see whats going on. I'm trying to handle this the best way I can. I'm just hoping people aren't getting upset with me because I'm all over the news. I don't want people to thinking its getting to my head."
It might be getting to his wallet. The New York Times is reporting that Lopez might face a hefty tax burden for the gifts he received from the Yanks.
While he's being celebrated for doing what many people believe is the right thing, the die hard Yankees fan was asked what he would have done if that historic ball had been hit by a Red Sox star, such as Dustin Pedroia or David Ortiz? "Oh, I'm getting money for that ball," Lopez says.
Christian claimed he was having fun with Jeter after meeting him in the tunnels of Yankee Stadium.
"I asked him if he wanted to come out and have a couple of beers with me at some point."
