The memory of iconic sportscaster Harry Kalas is being honored not only with a statue but also some body art.
Philadelphia singer Eddie Bruce paid homage to the late broadcaster with a Phillies tattoo on his leg that features Harry's initials inside the legendary Liberty Bell.
Bruce, who became friends with Kalas seven years ago after winning a charity dinner with him, will sing "High Hopes" at Tuesday's statue unveiling at Citizens Bank Park.
The Philadelphia Daily News reports Kalas loved to perform "High Hopes" or sing Christmas songs with the Eddie Bruce band. In addition, Bruce gave musical tips to Kalas' son, Kane Kalas, who will perform "God Bless America" during Tuesday night's Phillies game.
Kalas died at age 79 in 2009. He was a Hall of Fame Phillies broadcaster for 39 seasons, and joined NFL Films as a narrator in 1975. Following the death of the great John Facenda in 1984, Kalas became the new voice of NFL Films and Inside the NFL.
Harry regularly called NFL and college football and basketball games for Westwood One, in addition to his work with the Phillies and NFL Films.
Hall of Famer Steve Carlton is one of several Phillies legends scheduled to attend the statue ceremony today.
