While most people quickly flee from a Great White Shark, some brave California surfers rescued one over the weekend.
On Venice Beach, a baby shark washed ashore just a few feet from the world famous Venice Pier.
With the shark fighting for its life, a pack of surfers took a fish hook from its mouth, then dragged it back into the Pacific Ocean.
Although the rescue happened a few days ago, video just came to the surface Tuesday. See it below, courtesy of CBS 2 Los Angeles.
Waters off Southern California's coast are actually filled with young great white sharks who feast on the area's fish, pinnipeds and seabirds.
Great Whites have become legendary for their size -- some have grown as large as 20 feet in length and weigh more than 5,000 pounds. Despite what you might have read in Peter Benchley's best-selling novel "Jaws" and Steven Spielberg's hit 1975 movie, the Great White would rather not eat humans.
While it's not yet known if the baby great shark survived, the fearsome fish was certainly helped by these kind humans.
