The Miami Dolphins have had an rough season on the field, and one of their few star players has continued to be out of sync off of it.

Brandon Marshall was briefly detained by police after he allegedly refused to pay a $142 cab fare. CBS Miami reports the Dolphins receiver had an issue with a cabbie just hours after the Dolphins beat the Redskins at home on Nov. 14. A taxi driver called Broward County Sheriff Officers just before 7 a.m., and Marshall was handcuffed and put into the back of a police car while officers figured out who to hold responsible for the episode.

Marshall was coming from teammate Karlos Dansby's 30th birthday party at the Fontainebleu on Miami Beach. Marshall's cab ride started at the resort, taking him first to the Miami International Airport, then eventually to the Fort Lauderdale airport. The cabbie told the South Florida Times that Marshall "didn't know where he wanted to go." Marshall allegedly attempted to sneak away into another cab while at the second airport.

If the Fountainebleu sounds vaguely familiar, it's the same hotel where LeBron James mother, Gloria James was arrested for assaulting a valet driver.

The Dolphins player told cops he wanted to go home, but because of his cab driver's thick accent, the two supposedly couldn't understand each other. Marshall, who's earning a $6.5 million base salary this season, finally decided to pay the $142 cab fare and was released without being charged with a crime.

This summer, Marshall disclosed he is dealing with Borderline Personality Disorder. Brandon ended up in the emergency room in April after his wife allegedly stabbed him in their home. Authorities declined to pursue criminal charges against Marshall's wife, Michi, because of conflicting stories about what happened.

Marshall's agent told the South Florida Times that his client is "completely innocent" and it was just a "communication issue."

On the field, Marshall is second in the NFL with 10 dropped passes for the 3-7 Dolphins.
