You'd think that being a successful professional athlete would mean you wouldn't struggle to find a date, yet that's just the case for one of baseball's best young pitchers.

Rather than turn to a dating site, Gio Gonzalez of the Nationals asked his followers on Twitter to help him find a date. The National League club is holding a 2012 Dream Gala on Saturday, and Gonzalez doesn't have a lady friend to accompany him.

Gonzalez, 26, later followed up that tweet by saying his potential date must be 21 years of age or older. Money isn't a problem for the left-hander, who agreed to a five-year, $42 million contract extension in January.

On the field, the Nationals have a 10-2 record in games started by the Hialeah, Fla., native. Gonzalez ranks among the National League leaders in strikeouts per nine innings, hits per nine innings and batting average against, but it seems that he's clearly lacking in the romance department.
