At this point, Johnny Manziel must be used to hearing other players offer their takes on him.

Everyone, it seems, has an opinion on the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

But recently a former Lone Star State football star offered an opinion that may sting more than most.

Ricky Williams, who was awarded the Heisman Trophy in 1998 while attending Texas, was asked about his fellow Heisman Trophy winner.

“One thing I would tell Johnny is, you know once you win the Heisman Trophy there’s going to be more attention on you," Williams told KEYE-TV in Austin. "And so you're probably not going to be able to get away with all the stuff that you got away with before. To the media I would say, if the media did their research on who this kid was, nobody would be surprised."

Williams is referencing Manziel's checkered past, which includes an arrest in the summer of 2012. It seems somewhat hypocritical, though, for Williams to rip Manziel for his off-the-field problems because Williams also made his share of mistakes.

Manziel is the subject of an NCAA investigation into whether he received compensation for autographs, so right now he has bigger things to worry about than Williams' comments. Still, hearing these comments must hurt.
