Not that Alex Rodriguez should expect to earn many new fans these days, what with the 38-year-old about to serve a 162-game doping suspension, but a recent encounter with comedian and talk show host Chelsea Handler must have been particularly stinging for the Yankees slugger.
On Howard Stern's radio show this week, Handler said Rodriguez approached her recently and asked why she made fun of him so much.
"Get away from me you're disgusting," Handler says she told Rodriguez. "You're gross."
“Why am I gross?" Rodriguez responded. "We got off on the wrong foot. I read all of your books. I'm a big fan.”
At this point, Handler had had enough.
"I don't know why you're a big fan," she told Rodriguez. "I think you're a f---ing a--hole.”
Handler told Stern that Rodriguez is a "buffoon," saying she doesn't like the way he conducts himself and referencing the supposed centaur portrait he has above his bed as evidence of his rotten character.
Of course, it's nearly impossible to verify any of what Handler says she told Rodriguez, but she's never been known to hold her tongue, so this conversation is within the realm of possibility.
