Bethanie Mattek-Sands Has Set Out To Chronicle Wimbledon Through Google Glass

Thanks to Bethanie Mattek-Sands, tennis fans will be able to experience Wimbledon through an entirely new perspective this year.

The 28-year-old American was one of about a thousand "explorers" chosen to test Google Glass, the new wearable computer, and what better place to try out the new accessory than the world's most storied tennis tournament?

Mattek-Sands has donned the glasses during her preparation for Wimbledon -- everywhere from her practice session to the player party. And the accessory is more than just a cool way to document the tournament, Mattek-Sands says the glasses could also help her development as a tennis player.

"My coach really liked the viewpoint," Mattek-Sands told USA Today. "We had a chance to look at it on the computer and it was a cool training tool."

As you can imagine, there's a lot that a professional tennis player must remember. So Mattek-Sands has used the glasses to keep track of her racquets, meals, flights and much more.

As the glasses may provide a competitive advantage, Mattek-Sands won't be able to wear them during the tournament (her first round match is Tuesday against Angelique Kerber). But if the above video is any indication, it's not hard to see how this technology could be a huge game-changer in the world of sports.
