What a tough night for Justin Verlander. The 32-year-old former AL Cy Young Award and MVP winner was three outs away from his third no-hitter Wednesday. The Angels' Chris Iannetta led off the ninth inning with a double, and Verlander had to settle for a disappointing one-hitter and 5-0 victory.
Luckily Verlander got a nice pick-me-up after the game. His girlfriend tweeted:

Kate Upton took a few moments out of her day to congratulate her four-year boyfriend. The tweets about modeling and Game of War can wait.
There is nothing more soothing after a devastating near-no-hitter to know there are still people who love you, despite making one mistake in nine innings. Verlander is still stuck on two no-nos.
