Charles Philip "Chuck" Bednarik was born May 1, 1925, Bethlehem, Pa.

Known as Concrete Charlie, Bednarik was the NFL's last full-time, two-way player. He died in March.

Bednarik played center and linebacker in his 14 seasons with the Eagles. He helped the team win its last NFL championship in 1960.

His hit on Frank Gifford has become part of the league's most enduring stories, even if it is always retold correctly. Writer John Schulian crafted the definitive Bednark profile in 1993.

Bednarik was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.
