Daniel Ricardo Manning was born May 17, 1966.
Manning is a former college star and NBA player from the late 1980s to the turn of the century. He scored 12,367 points in his 16-year NBA career, but what he might be known best for is his time at Kansas.
Manning left Kansas as the leading scorer in history, and he led the the program to the 1988 NCAA title as a No. 6 seed. He scored 31 points to help beat Oklahoma in the title game.
Manning was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1988 NBA draft and helped the Clippers make two playoff appearances before moving on.
After retiring from basketball, he became an assistant coach at Kansas and is now head coach at Wake Forest.
