Billy Cunningham was born June 3, 1943.

Cunningham helped guide the Philadelphia 76ers to NBA championships both as a player and a coach. He received All-NBA First Team honors in 1969, 1970, 1971, and was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1986.

A fiery competitor who played with a lot of heart, Cunningham played under Hall of Fame coach Dean Smith at North Carolina.

His exceptional and unusual leaping ability earned him the nickname, the "Kangaroo Kid."
