Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid is approaching the two-year anniversary of being drafted into the NBA, yet the former No. 3 overall pick by the 76ers still has not played in a regular-season game. The 22-year-old Cameroon native is expected to finally heal from a broken foot and play in 2015-16.

Despite being 163 games behind Andrew Wiggins, Embiid's former teammate at Kansas and the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Embiid has gained a massive following thanks to his active social media presence. Like here and here and here.

The legend of Embiid only continues to grow, thanks to a recent Vice interview. Embiid was asked about what foods he eats, and he gave an extremely honest answer.

"Mainly Shirley Temple," he says. "I drink Shirley Temple by the pitcher. I usually drink like three or four pitchers per day."

Embiid emphasized that he meant pitchers, displaying the size of a pitcher with his hands.

"Nobody really cares about the media," Embiid went on. "They're going to have something to say about 300 pounds or Shirley Temple. I'm just going to let my game do the talking. I think some people are going to be surprised and I can't wait to show off."

Joel isn't wrong: Here we are, writing about his Shirley Temple habits.

Every 7- to 12-year-old basketball fan should sip a sugary Shirley Temple at dinner tonight, as a tribute to their new hero.
