John Tortorella

John Tortorella is one of the baddest people in the hockey world. The current Columbus Blue Jackets coach and 2016 U.S. World Cup of Hockey Team USA coach was suspended two years ago for trying to invade an opposing team's locker room.

In a decade and a half behind NHL benches, he has come close to fighting other coaches, and TV cameras have have caught him with some colorful language.

But Torts has a gentler side to him. It comes out in the presence of dogs.

There is Tortorella on Monday afternoon, embracing player-turned-broadcaster Jody Shelley's puppy.

This may not surprise serious Torts fans. The John & Christine Tortorella Family Foundation helps protect children, animals and the environment from harm. Tortorella has not used his verified Twitter account in two years, but his profile picture is still him and a dog.

For now on, when Torts gets mad on the bench, someone should just bring him a puppy.
